I finally started learning how to play guitar in July 2002, when a friend (Chris Harron, take a bow) helped me find a good second-hand guitar - a righty that he helped convert to a lefty. Ian Masters gave me my first lesson and got me playing my first real cord, after years of half-hearted trying, and gave me a sense of accomplishment. In August I bought the Guitar For Dummies book, and lo and behold it helped me even more. With some careful thought about the songs I like that sound easy to do on acoustic guitar, I researched tabs and practiced and now have a set list of songs that I can actually play. Hooray for me! So, if you are planning a party, or if you are a band and need an opening act, check out some of these sweet melodies that I can sort of hack away. Most people who hear them will testify that my versions of these songs actually kind of sound a bit like the originals - hey, everybody has to start somewhere!
